The Gorge is one of the most beautiful venues in the world, set on the edge of the Columbia River gorge in eastern Washington. It is well worth the drive during Memorial Day Weekend when Sasquatch descends on the river; this festival is big but not too big, with acts that are known but not KNOWN. The Free Press Summer Fest is an annual two-day music festival held in Houston, Texas at Buffalo Bayou's Eleanor Tinsley Park. The third annual eevnt featured more than 160 national and local acts on eight stages and took place June 4-5, 2011 with an estimated 60,000+ in attendence. The festival was started to emphasize local musical performers, visual arts, and artists. A recycling program, carbon off-set credits and a partnership with the Texas Campaign for the Environment are implemented to help this festival become a greener experience.

2011 was a critical moment for the biggest dance music festival in the US. After problems at their old location in Los Angeles, the festival made the decision to move to Las Vegas. Apparently it was a good one. 2011 was a huge success with over 225,000 attendees and 2012 has already been green lighted in the same location. The lineup will no doubt be massive. Ultraworld Productions first held Starscape in June 1999, growing it out of the smaller but well-loved Sunrise Festival. The venue, Fort Armistead Park, provides a beautiful wooded and coastal backdrop for the event, but is a small enough site to allow for easy access to all of the stages and attractions. While the talent lineup is diverse and the production is top notch, Starscape is not a mega-fest, and as such, it has developed an intimate feel and is known for its amazing vibe.

Burning Man is more of an art "event" than a music festival, but this weeklong gathering hovers on the fissure where tomorrow's new sounds bubble up from the underground. The Burn is not about headlining artists, but rather about highlighting the fact that each of us is an artist. A newbie on the festival circuit and hopefully a soon to be standard to the festival roster, Snowglobe brings people to the party town of South Lake Tahoe (California/Nevada border) for rippin outdoor winterfest to ring in the new year. The inaugural lineup included the likes of Pretty Lights, Bassnectar and Thievery Corp. Hope their sophmore offering is as strong.

Sea of Dreams is Northern California's loudest New Years Eve party, taking place every year in the heart of San Francisco. Although music performances from major electronic and world music artists tend to be the main focus of Sea of Dreams, the festival also features art exhibits and interactive attractions. Each year has a different theme which inspires the event's decorations and costumes worn by the party-goers.
