Welcome to part 2 of New Takes on Old Classics - Favorite Cocktails Remixed. If you haven't seen part 1 yet, read this first.
Eye of Tiger!!!!!
It seems unfair to mention a Mojito without its distant cousin the Caipirinha, the Brazilian beauty that's been tearing up the states since that "c" in cachaça got hit with a cedilla. Here at MetroWize we live every day in the danger zone, we blast AC/DC non-stop and arm wrestle Chuck Norris on Sundays. Hence the chili peppers in our cocktails. Next time you're feeling tough, knock one of these back and own the night.
3 lime wedges
1.5 oz Leblon Cachaça
1/2 of a habanero pepper (de-seeded)
.5 oz Pama Liqueur
In a sturdy glass muddle the shit out of the limes, sugar and chili, fill glass with ice, cachaça and Pama - top with soda and garnish with baby tears.
The Vanity Fair
Yeah, sure Carrie and the girls made Dale DeGroff's classic cocktail a super star on par with Madonna, but here at MetroWize we've got a twist that'll make it burn up harder then DJ AM on a tarmac. Next time you belly up to the bar, order a Cosmo with Stoli Blueberi instead of regular citrus vodka and then top it with champagne.
1.5oz Stoli Blueberi
1 oz Cointreau
.5oz fresh squeezed lime juice
.5 oz cranberry juice
.5 oz Champagne
In a pint glass filled with ice shake up everything except for the champagne. Strain into a martini glass and pour on the champagne.
The Million Dollar Baby
Right now, MetroWize is about to make history - sure, we're always breaking new drink recipes, shows and the happs but this next recipe is just unheard of. Don't try this at home, not for the danger but because you need a crowd. Call up the models, lace up your gator boots, pop the collar on your Gucci suit and prepare to own. This last entry is our take on the Sidecar. We were gonna go semi pro and tell you to use Louis XIII for the cognac ($125 -150 per shot) but then we took a step back and realized our crowd - so we went big. This drink calls for Henny Richard, the grand daddy of all the commercially available expensive cognac. Roughly $250 a shot this makes for a mean martini.
1.5 oz Hennessy Richard
1oz Grand Marnier 150
.5 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
In a pint glass full of ice, stir all ingredients till drink is cool, pour into a martini glassed rimmed with Bolivia's finest sugar. Garnish with Rick Ross and a gold plated helicopter.
