If you’re into music you probably already know about Afrobeat. Afrobeat music combines Jazz, Funk and Yoruba music with African rhythms and vocals to create infectious, polyrhythmic grooves that will get just about anyone’s back up off the wall. On the shoulders of artists like Fela Kuti and Antibalas, Afrobeat has seen a major resurgence in popularity in recent years.

This month, from July 9th – 26th the 4th Annual Afrofunk Festival comes to the West Coast with events in cities like Seattle, Portland, and San Francisco all for a great cause. Proceeds from the festival will go to non-profits House of Hope and World Action for Humanity (WAH) which aid children in Africa affected by the AIDS epidemic.
