If you're looking for an event that epitomizes the phrase "only in San Francisco," the BYOBW race is it. Short for Bring Your Own Big Wheel, BYOBW is an event that pits grown adults racing big wheel tricycles down a hill. While the event has normally been held on Lombard street, the police have requested the event to be moved. But don't fear the sheer lunacy and hilarity of this event won't be affected.

Started by San Franciscan Jon Brumit eight years ago, BYOBW has grown into a city phenomenon, with over 50 dedicated racers and nearly a thousand spectators on hand every year. The event has been reported on by NBC, SFgate, the Guardian, and many more publications.

This year, the event will be held on Easter Sunday (March 23) at 5 PM on Vermont Street at 20th in San Francisco. If you get a kick out of watching big people on kids toys--or if you want to be a big person on a kids toy--head on over a little early. There is no registration fee, and there will be hand-made prizes for the winners of the race, the best costumes, and more. For more information, check out Jon Brumit's BYOBW site.
