The Clift Hotel in San Francisco scores a trifecta when it comes to hip and swanky. There is of course the beautiful and unique rooms of the hotel, the happening place for drinks, Redwood Room, and the opulent (some would say one of the best in the city) Asia De Cuba restaurant. The design is unique and exclusive, the location is great, and the vibe is high-end and international.

The rooms are beautiful, especially the suites, and they are also very unique, with a rich person’s party pad kinda feel. The bathrooms are not particularity grand and neither is the media center. Then again, if you are staying here and want to spend your time in the bathroom or watching TV, you should really live a little.

Being here, you can’t help but want to go downstairs and check out the scene at the Redwood Room, potentially one of the coolest, high-end bars in the city. Best of all, the bar is busy almost every night, so if you’re in town on a Tuesday, this hotel is a particularly good choice. The bar scene is a little skewed towards male, but no place is perfect.

Finally, the location can’t be beat. Head down the hill to the Financial District or Union Square for great shopping and people watching. One insider tip; don’t be scared to venture up Geary Street, it’s where some of the best bars in the city are located (Ambassador, Rye, Swig, Bourbon & Branch).
