Coachella Music Festival 2008 - Jack Johnson, Roger Waters, Portishead and More

Let the preparations begin! the Coachella Music Festival, one of the biggest arts and music festivals on the west coast this year, just released their lineup for 2008, and hoo boy is it going to be a doozy. With Jack Johnson, Portishead, and Roger Waters headlining the three-day festival in Indio, California, these artists along with the supporting acts will prove to make the Coachella Music Festival 2008 one of the most memorable festivals yet.

Whether you're a fan of rock, country, pop, or anything in between, Coachella, which will run from April 25 to the 27th, has tailored to all lovers of music since 2000. This year, however, seems to be the year of the DJ, with a veritable all-star cast of electronic and dance artists choosing to show up in Indio this year. Fatboy Slim, Sasha & Digweed, Kraftwerk, Justice, Sebastian and Kavinsky (who toured with Daft Punk), and Diplo are all coming to grace the stages, to name just a few. But even if you aren't a fan of electronic or dance music, Jack Johnson, Death Cab for Cutie, Cold War Kids and M.I.A will also descend onto Indio to play.

Looking at the lineup card at the Coachella website, it's surprising to see so many big names barely mentioned. Justice occupies just the third line in the Sunday lineup; Sasha & Digweed, one of the most popular acts to date, are mentioned after Kraftwerk; and Diplo and Deadmau5 are afterthoughts, near dead last in the lineup. But with so many big names coming to the festival this year, it's understandable why many groups are barely mentioned--it's becoming a music festival that reels in only the hottest artists of their respective genres.

Goldenvoice Concerts, the production company that's putting on Coachella this year, expects a record number of people in attendance. The 2007 festival brought 165,000 people, and in 2008 that number is expected to increase by 10 percent--that's over 60,000 people per day!

Tickets will go on sale Friday, January 25 at 10 AM via ticketmaster. 3-day general admission will be $269, while single day general admission will be $90. For those planning on camping (and tens of thousands do), it's $55 per person.
