The German duo known as Digitalism played San Francisco's Mezzanine nightclub this last Friday night. They gave a sensational performance revealing the large following of the groups fan base here in the city. Having released their recent full album ‘Idealisim’ on the AstralWerks record label, it was time to see and hear it live! Ofer R. was there to bring you back the word.
"Sometimes work doesn't need to be hard. In my case, going to see great shows at amazing venues all around the city and then writing about it for you folks is hardly work at all. Last Friday I headed to Mezzanine to see Digitalism. I Arrived to the club to find no line at the door, but was surprised to walk in to a fully packed venue. It was crowded with fans all over the club. There was a stage setup in the corner & a DJ booth in the middle of the room close to the main bar. The music was a pumping infused electro-rock-breakbeat. San Francisco had showed up for this event in full attendance and raised spirits. Lot’s of sweet indie boys and girls filled the club, ready to kick off the Halloween weekend with a great vibe.
The first band on stage was C.L.A.W.S and they performed a live PA act with electronic drums and a Mac- they were groovin and so was the dance floor! C.L.A.W.S was followed by ‘Miami Horror’ who played a DJ set which was an excellent build up to the main event. Finally, Digitalism fired up there Live P.A. and took control of the dance floor, they played a live set that kept getting sharper, funkier and tighter. Playing all their big hitters; “Zdarlight", “Magnets” and “Jupiter Room” with a live version twist. The sound was great I didn’t really notice visuals, but the sound was all you needed! Unfortunately it ended much too soon and the act to follow was not a great transition, which left the crowd desiring more and in a complete frenzy over the performance. Hopefully we get a longer performance next time they come out to play out.
Keep your eyes and ears open for these guys, if Friday night was any indication of what the future holds, it’s looking very good for Digitalism!"
