Last Friday night, Get Freaky put together one of their annual ‘Afterburn’ events at 1015 Folsom. This may have been one of the biggest lineups ‘Get Freaky’ ever put together. It was true a musical treat with lots of talent everywhere. Read more to get the scoop from Metrowize insider Ofer R.

Get Freaky is always a freak fest at 1015 Folsom, but the Get Freaky Afterburn event last Friday night took it to the next level. WOW, what a party! This event rocked out the club in all the rooms in every way! The line up was top notch to say the least. An-Ten-Nae(Get Freaky/Muti), Ghishlain Poirer (Ninja Tune canada), Bassnectar (Om / bassnectar.net), Si Begg (Noodles / Novamute UK), Freqnasty (Skint UK) and many more local extraordinary DJ talents!

This was the first appearance in SF for Si Begg and wow what a show! This dude is amazing, ingenious, creative, talented and extremely masterful. He ripped the room to shreds, going into rock infused breaks, glitch hop drum and bass fiasco. The bpm seemed to be switching constantly yet the groove and continuous hook always carried through and glued all the music together. It seemed like every bleep played by Simon was controlled, planned and wonderfully executed. This is by far one of the most insane DJ's you’ll ever get to see play out. His precise control, blowing your mind with exact beat, melody and frequency precision crafted into a perfect harmony that logically shouldn’t sound good or match and comes out sounding incredibly sequenced.

It's not often that you can have 4 great rooms of sound, but there great was great music everywhere. The upstairs lounge had a DJ that was sampling his own voice and playing a didgeridoo as he was spinning music, the main room was rockin' all night and had four large screens projecting excellent visual delights, the front room had kitchy mash ups and funky house and the basement was booming with fresh D 'n' B complete with live MC's. The crowd consisted of plenty of ‘afterburners’ who seemed to be in need of a good gathering to ease the shift of the return to City life reality from the desert dream.

This was an outstanding event with lots of positive energy. The rooms where packed with dancers, shaking about projecting really good vibes everywhere! All of the performers certainly brought their A game. San Francisco gave them all a big attendance and excellent vibe, I hope they remember this night as one of the better parties and come back soon, because these guys are true innovators of the electronic sound and a great audio delight!
