Last Friday night @ 1015 Folsom, the Israeli psy trance duo, Infected Mushroom, were in town playing their live electronica set and showing the San Francisco dance culture that psy trance and rock n roll can be mixed together and the results can be explosive. MetroWize man on the scene, Ofer R., was there to partake in the madness.

If you know anything about psy trance, you know who Infected Mushroom are and what kind of impact they have had on the genre. The Israeli natives (who now live full time in LA) have most certainly left their mark and help redefine what "trance" means to a lot of people. On Friday, I checked out 'Fire' headlining Infected Mushroom at 1015 Folsom. This party was roaring with enticed musical flames and a burning hot rocked out trance extravaganza. Wow what a performance!!

I Got to the club just after midnight. The line for ticket holders was wrapped around the block and 1015 was packed to its full capacity. The front room had some slow grimey hip-hop blazing the sub-woofers, upstairs some cheeky house moved the more loungey crowd and in the main room was Serge Devant manning the decks, warming up the audience for the live act. The main room was packed with hundreds of people who were grooving the night away... It was getting closer to 1:00 am and Infected Mushroom were running final setup checks, the crowd just turned around facing the stage and started to chant as if the club turned into a hard rock gig.

They went on stage at around 1:00 AM, and what an entrance! They have a serious fan base!! They tore up the room with a live trance morphed rock show. The full live act began the ride with "Deeply Disturbed" and ripped it up. It was Eizen on the keys & Duvdev on the mic, INFECTED MUSHROOM entered the house! The crowd was going bezerk as if in a heavy metal concert, guitar distortions everywhere, beautifully timed drums and perfectly coordinated live musicians at their best, their timing and chemistry were exquisite...The room had an insane amount of energy that night. People where bobbing their heads and jumping up and down as the music possessed and gripped them hard! One of the better visuals I've seen in that club as well. 4 big screens, lots of laser work, fog and a nice touch of visual flames on all 4 walls of the room.

This night was a rocked out inferno of excellent live talent that definitely reinforced Infected Mushroom as a force to be reckoned with in the electronica scene.
