Germany's King Khan and the Shrines bring their garage soul revue to the Great American Music Hall on Friday July 11th. Formed in Berlin by Montreal ex patriot Khan, the nine piece band comes complete with a full horn section and back up dancers. Expect some heavy soul power circa 60's Stax records with hints Eric Burdon era War and the sonic fury of the Stooges.
Touring in support of their well received new Vice Records release "The Supreme Genius Of King Khan and The Shrines", Khan delivers some raunchy, masochistic lyrics. On the tongue in cheek ode to his lover in "Took My Lady Out To Dinner" King Khan sings "Instead I watch her booty grow three times the original size. My baby, she's fat and ugly, but I really, really love her." The man really knows how to treat a woman. Doors are at 8PM, Florida's Jacuzzi Boys open.
