San Francisco has frequently been called a “melting pot” for years now, and on February 1, Mezzanine, the San Francisco venue known for its innovative and diverse productions, will further prove why the term “melting pot” applies to the music and arts culture of our fair city. Mercury Soul: An Electro-Acoustic Evening, will combine classical music, electronica, and dance—yes, none of those are typos—that is sure to be a once-in-a-long-while event that cannot be missed.
DJ Masonic and Maestro Benjamin Shwartz of the San Francisco Symphony will come together for only one night to create a showcase of genre-jumping music. Visual designer Anne Patterson will create the set, which will include a spectacular light show along with a showcase of neon & aluminum sculpture all around the Mezzanine premises. Such an amalgamation of high-profile artists performing in San Francisco probably hasn’t been seen since Metallica joining forces with the SF Symphony back in 1999.
Mezzanine promises to have orchestral percussionists performing on go-go dancer platforms, the chance to sip cocktails between a string quartet and woodwind quintets, and surreal lighting effects fading in on a sinfonietta. It is unlike any other symphonic event, unlike any other DJ event, and unlike any other art exhibit you’ve ever seen.
With an opportunity to see such expressive and unique art, it would be foolish to skip out on it. Doors open at 9PM. Mercury Soul starts PROMPTLY at 10PM! Tickets are $12 presale. Ticketweb has you covered.
