For more than six months now local DJ's Black Shag and Conveyor have been delivering the goods every first Friday with their excellent B.O.D.Y.H.E.A.T. party at The Elbo Room in the Mission District. The event has most certainly raised the bar by bringing in underground bands and DJ's from around the world that otherwise might avoid an SF appearance. This month you get a full on overdose of funk with 80's rare groove revivalist Dam Funk (Stones Throw) and Morgan Geist of the influential NYC duo Metro Area. Expect plenty of leftfield disco, boogie and modern soul, with a little vintage techno thrown in the mix for good measure. To top it all off, The B.O.D.Y.H.E.A.T. boys are teaming up with Jeffrey Paradise and the Blow Up crew to throw an all night underground disco party on Saturday July 5th featuring legendary British DJ Harvey and some very special guests. The word is that the August installment of B.O.D.Y.H.E.A.T. ups the ante with an appearance by Detroit Techno pioneer Juan Atkins aka Cybotron whose track Clear was considered one of the very first techno releases in 1983.
