Noise Pop 2008 in Full Swing

Noise Pop is upon us! Noise Pop Festival, which started on Tuesday, February 26, was founded to bring the best underground music the Bay Area has to offer. The festival is in its 16th year and doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. Since its conception, it has evolved into a San Francisco cultural phenomenon, featuring underground and well-known artists of the indie, electronic, punk, and cutting-edge genres.

Noise Pop has also become a haven where film and artwork are showcased featuring artists who create galleries of original pieces that reflect the music and culture of San Francisco, including this year’s featured gallery, Pictures Of Me: Rare Photographs of Elliot Smith, opening tonight at 7 at Park Life on Clement Street. This week, Noise Pop will also hold a few panels where people interested in the music industry can sit down with some of the leading professionals in the market, and they can learn specific trades of the music industry.

Here are a few events that you shouldn’t miss out on:

Thursday, 2/28: you can check out both happy hours at The Parkside with Anticon DJ’s, Odd Nosjam, and Jel. During the evening of 2/28 make sure to go check out a live comedic performance at Mezzanine from The Human Giant.

Friday, 2/29: Stop by the downtown Diesel store at 6pm for a free happy hour w/ DJ Seta, Scissors For Lefty, DJ Omar, Film School and Stellastar. You be able to have a few one-on-one meetings with music industry professionals along with group discussions that may lead you to change your job path to something in the music industry. At 9 PM, check out Panther, Immigrant, and Oakland based Wallpaper at the Rickshaw Stop. Or, if you really love that kind of music that makes your ass shake go see MSTRKRFT at Mighty from 9pm till whenever he decides to stop playing.
