Yet another summer music festival has released their lineup, and for those who don't want to travel cross-country to Rothbury, WMC, or Bonnaroo can enjoy big-name artists on the west coast at Sasquatch Music Festival in Washington. This festival, which will happen on May 24-26 (Memorial Day Weekend) will feature over 40 bands and tout carbon-neutral partying.
While Sasquatch Music Festival invited more indie rock bands and singer-songwriters than any other genre, there are also many alternative rock and hip hop acts. The festival features three stages (Main stage, Wookie stage, and Yeti Stage), all of which overlook the Columbia River. The venue, the Gorge Amphitheatre, is a nine-time winner of Pollstar Magazine's award for Best Outdoor Music Venue.
The lineup includes both old and new artists, with R.E.M, The Cure, The Flaming Lips, and Death Cab for Cutie headlining. Flight of the Conchords, fresh off their hit show on HBO, will also be playing as well as Modest Mouse, Ghostland Observatory, and many more. While the bands are playing, Sasquatch will educate festivalgoers on environmental sustainability and carbon-neutral living and carbon offsets, which are a way to reduce the amount of carbon emitted in one place by eliminating it from another place.
Tickets are on sale at the Sasquatch Festival website for $56.50 per day, but a discounted 3 day ticket is available until March 9 for $154.50.
