Movie buffs, rejoyce. The San Francisco International Film Festival is coming, with eight venues around the city playing over 100 films from April 24 to May 8. Whether it's comedy, action, indie, documentary, or anything in between, the festival, which is the longest-running film festival in America, is sure to be playing something that will appeal to you.
The Castro Theatre will serve as the main theatre for this festival, which is celebrating its 51st year in existence. The opening night (April 24) film will be "The Last Mistress" at the Castro starting at 7:00, with the afterparty happening at the Metreon at 9:30. If you can't make it to that, never fear--more than 100 films will be playing at venues ranging from Sundance Cinemas Kabuki, the Pacific Film Archive Theater, and even Mezzanine, who are acting as a satellite venue for the festival.
Over 80,000 people attend this event every year, and this year will be no different. Numerous large events, afterparties, and awards shows will also be happening during the 14 days the festival is running, so be sure to check those out as well.
