Down in front please! It's just about showtime for the 10th Annual San Francisco Indie Film Festival, taking place from February 7th-20th. And if you concentrate hard enough you can almost taste the Red Vines and hear the sound of stale popcorn squeak under the flimsy rubber soles of worn out Converse. There will be over 40 films at this years festival, with screenings being shown throughout three local theaters in SF. If that seems like a lot of films, well that's because it is.
If you're looking for a little more info about this years films and directors, a good place to get started is at the Launch Party, taking place on January 25th at the Rickshaw Stop. Blast off is at 8pm with admission costing you $10. Accompanying the live bands which include Maldroid, The Uptones, and The May Fire, there will also be previews for this years entries giving you a taste of what's in store. Three of San Francisco's finest independent theaters will be showing this years films. Hop a MUNI bus (33, 24), train (K, L & M) or streetcar (F Market) up to the Castro Theater, or skid your way down to the mission on your fixie to the Roxie Cinema or Victoria Theater.
A few of the film titles that will be shown include, Driving to Zigzigland, Bomb It!, The Bodybuilder and I, Dead On, My American Legacy, Sliding Liberia, and Real Women Have Nerve. For a full list of films visit the SF IndieFest website. Single show tickets will run you $10, but there are a few special 5 Film ($45) and 10 Film ($80) passes available. Tickets can be purchased through the SF IndieFest website as well as at the theater 30 minutes prior to showtime. Don't forget that there are three other “official” SF IndieFest parties to attend. The Roller Disco @ CellSpace (02/09, 9pm), the Big Lebowski Bowling Party @ Space Gallery (02/16, 9pm), and the bittersweet Closing Night Party @ 12 Galaxies (02/20). Each party promises to be a good time, and an IndieFest film stub will get you into them for FREE!
