St. Regis Hotel SF

When it comes to classy places to stay when you are in San Francisco, look no further than the St. Regis Hotel. This 40 story luxury hotel is relatively new to San Francisco. There's nothing about this hotel that isn't opulent, (including the price). Located right in the heart of SOMA, it's often booked up based on the convention industry demands. If you can find a deal on an off weekend this is one of the best hotels in the city.
As a Hip place to stay in San Francisco, this hotel is not the epicenter of the party scene by any stretch. Sometimes being at an amazing hotel can be baller enough though, and this hotel definitely qualifies. Like the Ritz Carlton, the St. Regis offers fractional (and full) ownership to wealthy individuals. If this option isn't in the cards on your next trip to town, you should consider the hotel rooms, which are also nice. The lobby level Ame restaurant, is elegant, while the adjacent bar is quiet and sophisticated with great wine. Upstairs is a 9,000 square foot spa and indoor pool. The rooms are decorated modern and luxurious. The location is one of the best in the city, perfect for a convention, sporting event, or anything else South of Market. In 5 minutes you can be shopping in Union Square, but if that is your primary destination, you should stay in that part of town.
The St. Regis is the highest tier of Starwood Resorts and like other large hotel groups, you can expect a well trained and attentive staff, clean rooms and a little less character than some of the boutique hotels. All in all however, if the price is right, you will not be disappointed, it's a great hotel.
