If you’re looking for a truly unique night out, Supperclub is your answer. Equal parts high-end restaurant, uber-swanky nightclub and Burning Man performance art space, this concept deserves major props for trying to do something different. Spend an evening there and yes, you will part with some coin, but you will get a night to remember-- that much is certain.
There are Supper Club venues scattered throughout Europe, and they all follow the same theme. The San Francisco location is a fairly large venue, divided into 4 areas. There is an all black, gothic like entry-way (expect to pay a $20 cover if you’re not there for dinner). Once you’ve entered the main bar, you are surrounded by wall-to-wall red, with disco balls hanging from the ceiling. Off to the right, a chillout space that houses an enormous white bed. On any given weekend night, expect to see 20-40 people, lying down, drinking glasses of champagne and listening to down tempo music.
The main room (past the red bar) doesn’t open until dinner is done, usually around midnight. The dinner is more of a performance experience, with mid-meal acrobatic acts suspended from the ceiling. Once midnight rolls around, the DJ kicks in and the doors from the bar open up into the main room. Since this venue has a late night permit, the party lasts all night.
Management even has a policy that all DJ acts must include some sort of art or performance during the show. Most times you’re going to see some kind of performance during the evening which add a lot to the vibe. All in all, this is one of the premier unique SF party destinations.
