San Francisco Guide to Partying
Name: The Independent
Address: 628 Divisadero St., 94117 (map it)

Despite the parking situation outside and the bathroom situation inside, these guys have a knack for booking good acts, especially in the Jam Band scene. Formerly the Justice League, the basic box venue did a slight remodel a few years back and re-opened to become one of the best mid-sized venues in San Francisco.

Monday night is the long standing movie night at The Independent and the place packs it in, running recent releases and serving popcorn. They have a two drink minimum, but its not really enforced. That said, why wouldn’t you want to kick back with a few beers and watch The Big Lebowski for the millionth time?

Keep your eye on their calendar, they book shows almost as often as the Fillmore and they often sell out. If you show up early, check out Madrone or Fly, both nearby hipster bars. If you leave before bar time, you can catch a bite still at the ever popular NOPA, which serves food till 1AM.
