Top Button's Designer Shopping Event last Thursday evening served up top-notch designs, without top-dollar price tags, and top-ups on tasty tequila concoctions to boot…what's not to like? In case you missed out on the experience, here's the debrief...
The lure of chic, discounted designer clothing, jewelry, and accessories attracted a stylish gaggle of girls to the Nob Hill Masonic Center last Thursday night. In the busy (but thankfully not crammed) auditorium, shoppers sifted through racks and displays, chatted up friends and designers, and sipped on Sauza Tequila cocktails and Pom Tea. VIP ticket holders also scored mini spa treatments.
Clothing ranged from jersey (notably, Bettina's new one-size line) to jeans. Up front, Elie Boutique's racks of apparel saw heavy traffic (hard not to be hypnotized by a 50%-off sign), while in the back a stand-out for both ladies and gents was L.A. designer Merlin Castell. Anyone keen on accessories or jewelry had an array of options, from distressed hats with a lovingly-used look to handbags made from actually-used candy wrappers. One highlight was Butterfly-inspired Frolick Jewelry, whose fun, colorful designs ranged from delicate dangling earrings to bold, pendant necklaces.
Though the goods were geared mainly towards women, menswear options (and male shoppers) weren't entirely absent. In fact, one male trendsetter decked himself out in newly-purchased goods in no time, sporting a hip hoodie from Deeper Shades of Soul and a playful, cotton-candy pink Bubola scarf, while touting a Custom Industries t-shirt inspired by travel experiences of the globe-trotting designer.
As the evening wore on, the buzz of excited voices grew louder and the room heated up, but the crowd was in high spirits. As icing on the cake, shoppers scooped up gift bags on the way out the door, snagging beauty products like LORAC lip polish and a subscription to the new Blueprint magazine.
