The stars were in line for Uberzone Live Saturday night--this party was simply off the hook. Unbelievable talent was showcased before a great crowd, and the show very well executed. Evil Breaks shook the dance floors of Fat City once again. An assortment of live PA and DJ’s brought the partiers on the floor at this awesome get together as the party proceeded into early Sunday AM.
I arrived at Fat City a little after midnight – no line, everyone was already there! I walked in as J. Hazen was gracing the decks – his set was breaks on the dark side with an edgy, peekish style. If you haven’t heard of this guy, check him out. He rocked the floor and the crowd was certainly feeling him.
Fat City was overflowing with partiers and great energy. I saw many familiar faces there, too--we have all partied together many times and it was nice to see everyone supporting the venue. There were 4 huge screens to on either side of the main floor projecting excellent visuals, and a beautifully decorated sound system with DJ booth and a live PA setup was the icing on the cake. At about 1:00 AM, Uberzone began a slamming live set, escalating the night into an intense dancing frenzy. World class, top-notch beats and rhythms released on a very energetic, music-thirsty crowd. The first track was from their new album "Ideology," and the crowd cheered wildly as Uberzone tapped into the sound system. There were live drums playing flawlessly live over perfectly timed samples and visuals. What a ride! the crowd certainly enjoyed this musical journey and so did I.
During the set I wandered upstairs to the second room. The chill space ruled by the infamous Ambient Mafia. Sixty4k was on the decks and this was purely awesome. The Ambient Mafia has been gracing the bay area for eight years and any party with them is a great time. This was no different: the grooviest, funkiest, sweetest down tempo beats imaginable was all Sixty4k played. This group of well seasoned DJs /artists always brings the ‘chill’ to the party. I really enjoyed this room and had a hard time deciding which room to stick with, Uberzone or Ambient Mafia – yes, it was that good! You can and should check them out on www.ambientmafia.com.
The main room lineup: Uberzone, J. Hazen, Bam vs. Icon, Aaron Jae , M.O.D., Athena and in the Chill room: Seventh Swami, Speakeasy Ray, Hickory, Sixty4k, Harken vs. Actual Rafiq. The other DJs all played great music and the night was filled with audio sweetness all around. I concluded this event with a big grin and two thumbs up--this was inspiring and refreshing as any good event should be. This was certainly a proper party big ups to Evil Breaks crew who did it up big yet again!!
