Here we go again - a no nonsense guide to some relics of the bar - you know like the 'Nsync boys but with higher proofs and better management.

Lets keep this analogy going by comparing some unfamiliar dusty bottles on the back bar with some familiar dusty boy banders on the backstage. Yes, before you ask - we did have to Wikipedia the Backstreet boys to get their names.

Zwack is like the Chris Kirkpatrick of back bar liquors because no one's ever heard of it or knows exactly what it does. It's a little round brown bottle and comes to us from Hungary and its been around since 1790. Its a rough herbal mixture that tastes like diet Jagermeister. It goes well in a glass or straight out of the bottle. Then you have a Zwack attack.

Luxardo is the JC Chasez of cordials because its a timeless marachino cherry flavored classic. Its always been great, but in the shadow of other more popular bottles that outshine by just enough to keep it as a back round dancer. Try it in an Aviation, which is 2oz of Gin, 1 oz of Luxardo and half a lemon. Stir it with some ice and serve it with some flare.

Joey Fatone is Drambuie because we've always been routing for it. Its warm robust flavors of scotch and honey with a hint of saffron draw out the strong whiskey flavors and make it a hit. Just like the Fat One, Drambuie plays well with others like the timeless classic Rusty Nail. It's two parts scotch to one part Drambuie. Bye, Bye, Bye.

Then we get into the Lance Bass of the bunch, Galliano. Its got a Vanilla Anise flavor and goes well with fruity drinks. Like Bass, it's a highly visible spirit that surprised us all with its new updated release. Try it in a Harvery Wallbanger which is 2 oz of Vodka, 1 oz of Galliano ice and OJ to fill. Trust us when we say it'll tear up your heart, or at least your liver.

Finally it's time for Justin Timberlake and the Chambord comparison. A french black rasberry liquor that's silky smooth and super sweet. It pairs well with this ex-boybander turned super star as it outshines everything else on the back bar. It's the liquor that holds Luxardo back because of its easy mix-ability and savory tartness. Like JT, it goes well with champagne or tequila in a Margarita like elixir with 1.5oz Tequila, 1 oz of Chambord and .5 oz of lime juice then add a floater of champagne. Hows that for dirty pop?
