Grab your forks and prepare yourselves to indulge at the newest Pacific Heights restaurant Baker & Banker. This exciting addition was started by the undeniable complementary pairing of Chef Jeffery Baker and sweet Pastry Chef Lori Banker whose love mirrors their passion for food. While it would have been cooler if her name was "Baker", cause she bakes, we'll get over it. In time. It's no easy feat moving into the space that used to house SF resto darling Quince, but the culinary couple managed to fill some pretty big shoes.
Their life-long affair began while Jeffery was a line cook at Meetinghouse, an earlier effort of their current space. As Lori began to visit Jeff at work, they both realized that they had found ‘their restaurant’ and many decades later acquired the beautiful space. Opting out of the previous formal dining room, patrons can now savor the neighborhood vibe while enjoying their favorite craft brew.
Not only is the space inviting, but the upscale culinary creations can be acquired at a friendly price – nothing is over $25! Some Chef favorites include grilled flat iron steak and the handmade pappardelle. For dessert lovers there’s the we-cannot-stop-raving-about peanut butter caramel fudge brownie with roasted banana ice-cream. Also, wine lovers will appreciate the extensive and varied selection that includes wines from all over the world.
GetWize: Baker & Banker is located at 1701 Octavia street in Pacific Heights. The restaurant is closed on Mondays. For more information, check out the restaurant website here.
