Barnsdall Park
Wining and Theatrics at Barnsdall Park

All summer long, the city does its best to find reasons to keep you outdoors, drinking, culturally enhanced, and smelling that smoggy, warm air. Across the street from the kids’ medical clinic on Hollywood blvd—which only looks scarier to a child with all those creepy smiling faces painted on it—Barnsdall Park perches on Olive Hill. This summer, Barnsdall brings you free Shakespeare in the Park between June 26th and August 30th, as well as Barnsdall Fridays with Silverlake Wine. Every Friday this summer—for $15 in advance or $20 at the door—savor select artisanal wines, and add an $8 tour of Frank Lloyd Wright’s amazing Hollyhock House to soak in some culture as well as good booze. The Coolhaus truck has created a special Barnsdall flavor, Honeyhock Ice Cream, they’re serving exclusively at the series, and the Let's Be Frank hot dog truck will satiate meatheads with 100 percent grass-fed beef hot dogs and family-farmed pork sausages.

GetWize: Shakespeare sounds better when you’re tipsy, so stick around after the wine tasting and watch The Tempest & Henry V at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays, or catch the act on Saturdays and Sundays at the same time—though you’ll have to pre-game on your own. Email boxoffice@independentshakespeare.com to reserve a seat for the play. Wine tastings take place Fridays between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
