Top 5 Absinthe Bars in NYC

Turkey's Nest Tavern94 Bedford Avenue, Brooklyn, 718-384-9774 On the very same Williamsburg stretch, but on the total opposite end of the classy-versus-trashy spectrum, is the Turkey's Nest Tavern. It's a dive bar in every sense of the word, from the super-low prices, darkly unpretty décor, and gritty-looking patrons dazedly gulping $2 PBRs while watching a game or playing Buck Hunter. The reason this unassuming bar makes our list? Frozen absinthe margaritas served in giant Styrofoam cups which you're welcome to take to-go for a shady jaunt through nearby McCarren Park! Certainly, a true "only in New York" experience you'll want to have once (and probably only once, given the cheap, no-name tequila that's mixed in generously, but not guaranteed to go down smooth). |
