|No doubt you’ve already heard of The Ace Hotel (20 West 29th Street, Manhattan, 212-679-2222), the swank yet affordable newcomer that took over the historic Breslin. Design firm Roman & Williams infused the guest rooms with simple yet totally non-traditional touches such as chalkboard-painted walls and plumbing-pipe clothing racks that replace closets (pictured). Rooms range from gorgeously vintage-furnished open loft spaces to smaller, cheaper rooms with bunked twin beds. The hip, urban lobby is surrounded by uber-cool businesses, too; drink or dine at Stumptown Coffee, the Breslin Bar & Dining Room, the John Dory Oyster Bar, or No. 7 Sub, and then hit Opening Ceremony or No. 8a for shopping.
