One of the few spots in the city with a true neighborhood feel, the Lower Haight has long been a favorite place to start the night (or spend the entire evening). Bursting with block parties, art openings, early morning sports broadcasts, and drinks to please every taste, there's rarely a dull moment. Check it out for yourself (and save a few pennies along the way) with MetroWize's roundup of the best happy hours in the Lower Haight.

Best Beer Bar: Toronado
Toronado has long been one of the best beer bars in the city - and their prices on any given day are unbeatable. Choose from over 40 beers from breweries such as Allagash, Dogfish Head, Russian River, and Unibroue starting at just $4 a pint - and as long as you ask nicely, the bartender will be happy to give you a few tastes as well. Feel free to bring in food (we suggest Rosamundes).

Something Chic: Vinyl Wine Bar
Popping up within Divisadero Cafe each night, Vinyl Wine Bar brings a chicer side to the Lower Haight. Offering a carefully curated menu of wine, be sure to ask the bartender for a few tastes to find a glass you love. Local meat and cheese plates compliment your order, and the surrounding pop art and always-hip-music keep the vibe from feeling too stuffy. Check the calendar for pop-up food. Bonus: there's WiFi for the working winos.

Founded back in 1986, the bar claims to be one of the first spots to spin industrial and acid jazz. Today, it's known for its beer selection.

The Sports Bar: Danny Coyle's
When you hear cheers echoing down Haight Street at 10am, Danny Coyle's is often to blame. A sports central for football, Euro soccer, college basketball (preferably Tarheel hoops), and anything else enticing enough for their many HD screens, this is the place to catch the game. Don't be surprised if you find yourself waiting behind a rope for the privilege of cheering on your team.

Drink & Play: The Page
Decked out in animal heads, oddball art, and a giant pool table, The Page is nearly inaccessible on the weekends. But stop by during the week for a hip crowd, 21 beers on tap, and plenty of whiskey. Scope out the beer/shot combos written above the bar for some quality stuff, then make your way to the basement for all the pool and foosball you could ever want.
