The Mission's always been known for it's cheap drinks - happy hour or not. But with dives dipping out, new blood in the neighborhood, and a serious Valencia Street upgrade, it's getting harder and harder to find those $2 tallboys. Read on below for the spots that have stayed true to the 'hood with killer happy hour specials throughout the week that go way beyond some measly PBR.

Tasty Thai: Another Monkey

Another Monkey claims that their happy hour offers some of the best deals in the Mission - and they're probably right. With drinks priced at $5 or less and food ranging from $5 to $7.50 a plate - you'll be feasting like a king in no time. On top of that, you can enjoy nightly deals. Sundays provide 1/2 price appetizers on everything but ribs. Mondays knock 50% off every bottle of wine. Tuesdays are for $2 Thai Tacos, $3 Burritos and $3 Thai beer on Tuesdays. Wednesdays conquer hump day with $6 shot/beer combos, Manhattans, and Old Fashions.

Best Sangria Deal: Picaro Tapas Restaurant

Perched along the corridor of 16th and Valencia, this Spanish restaurant is always bustling for happy hour. Offering outdoor seating and prime people watching, Picaro adds the bonus of reasonably priced tapas menu (many under $6) and drinks at any hour. Add to that $10 sangria pitchers during happy hour and you're sure to kick the night off on the right foot.

Best Place to Get Sloshed: Blondie's Bar & No Grill

Blondie's is good for a solid sloshing any night of the week. Order up one of their $12 cocktails (which equate to about 2 1/2 strong martinis), and you're usually set. Grab a window seat to check out Valencia or head to the back for live music most nights of the week. But for those who arrive early (well… before 8:30pm), you'll be able to enjoy bonus happy specials on everything else at the bar.

Eat & Drink: Dr. Teeth & The Electric Mayhem

Mayhem has mastered the art of the happy hour. Not only do they offer consistent weekday drink deals, they also add incentive throughout the week with specials that run all night. Stop by Monday for a burger and beer for $10. Order all-you-can-eat wings on Wednesdays for just 25 cents a piece. Then get wilder on Thursday with two-for-one margaritas and $2 tacos to soak things up. Be sure to hit up the shuffleboard before you leave. And order the totchos. Please order the totchos.

Save on Sake: Blowfish Sushi to Die For

Blowfish has made a name thanks to its popular happy hours. Arrive for the thin hour and a half slot and reap the benefits with hand rolls, skewers, and sake cocktails for just $4 a pop. Neighboring Noise Pop HQ has recently teamed up with them for the monthly Blow Pop Happy Hours, which offer additional drink specials, free sake shots, and DJ sets by bands like of Cold War Kids, Thee Oh Sees, and Vetiver.

Best Dive: Benders

If you're looking for a legit dive to get your drink on, this biker bar is where its at. Plastered in floor-to-ceiling stickers and headed up by some seriously badass bartenders, Bender's is a love-it-or-hate-it San Francisco classic. The drinks are dirt cheap, the photo booth is a must, and the food menu is surprisingly delicious (when in need, grab the mac'n'cheese grilled cheese with tots). Tuesdays boast $6 Tequila/Tecate combos and Wednesdays offer $5 PBR/whiskey combos as an added bonus.

$1 Oysters: Hog & Rocks

Start your evening with class at Hog & Rocks. Arrive between 5pm and 6pm for $1 oysters along with varied drink specials and bonus bar bites. Specializing in an odd but delicious combination of ham, oysters, and whiskey - this is one spot you and your date might want to stick around for dinner. After a few apps and discounted drinks, dive into a meat-heavy menu of Bone Marrow, Gulf Coast Flounder, and BBQ Meatballs with grits.

Drink Outside: El Rio

There's a surprising shortage of bars to drink outdoors when the weather's nice and even fewer with heat lamps for when the weather's not. El Rio offers not only a massive outdoor patio with a coveted wooden hut and free oysters on Fridays, but brilliant Bloody Mary's, all sorts of live music, burlesque performances, and lube wrestling that gives the front row umbrellas and ponchos (because this is San Francisco dammit!). How can you say no to that?

Best Dance Party: Elbo Room

This two-level bar and dance haven has always taken pride in "San Francisco's Longest Happy Hour". And while that may not be totally accurate, they still offer some pretty great deals. Mellow downstairs in one of their cozy booths or scope out their calendar for DJs and live performers serving up Afrobeat, soul classics, reggae, and dub.

Keep It Classy: Laszlo

Attached to the irresistibly high-end restaurant, Foreign Cinema, Laszlo attracts a throng of pre-dinner crowds, craft cocktail lovers, and trendy bar lovers. Drop by during happy hour for one of their discounted drinks, peruse the cafe menu for bites at $10 or less from the Foreign Cinema kitchen (think Dungeness Crab Paninis and Brandade Gratin), or stick around past 9pm for DJs spinning nightly.
