The Downtown Los Angeles Arts Districts has been busy as of late. In addition to adding a collection of hip dining establishments and cafes, artists have been moving in droves and producing some of Los Angeles’ finest collections of work to date. The culmination of Art District’s maturity and the celebration of the life of local Joel Bloom, is BloomfestLA -- a festival of music, street art, crafts, and food.

This year's event is being sponsored by local radio station KCRW, who will be bringing in some stellar bands to perform (see the full lineup below). Last year’s line-up read as a who’s who of indie bands including local LA favorite (and now national favorite) Grouplove. Not only will you be serenaded for free, but you’ll also have an opportunity to check out all of the nearby street art and local galleries during Bloomfest. As always, a host of LA food trucks will be on standby so you can quench your thirst with booze and stuff your faces with treats. For those feeling less inclined to dine from a food truck, stop by on of many neuveau restaurants in the area like Wurstkuche, Church and State, Urth Cafe, or Villains Tavern. There’s an entire section dedicated to dining in the Arts District.
Even though Bloomfest's KoolKid Zone is meant for the young ones, there's nothing wrong with getting your face painted and acting like a kid - there's even a screen printing and sock puppet station -- you know you want a sock puppet.
BloomfestLA is being held on July 21st from 2 pm to 10 pm in the Downtown Arts District at 3rd St. and Traction Avenue. Admission is free to all and if you take the metro (plus you’ll take parking out of the mix) making this the most relaxed festival you’ve ever attended.
