As Gordon Ramsay's eponymous Michelin-starred restaurant closes except for dinner Wednesday through Sunday, his Boxwood Café has opened daily for breakfast and all-day dining. The celebrity chef of Hell's Kitchen fame launched the Boxwood Café in October at the London West Hollywood, converting the front dining room of the Gordon Ramsay into a more casual space for the leisurely bistro diner. The Boxwood offers foodies a more affordable alternative to The Gordon Ramsey, with cuts to the prices but not to the quality.
The Boxwood Café boasts of California's exquisite bounty of homegrown victuals prepared under the auspices of Gordon Ramsay's executive chef, Andy Cook. The restaurant features New American fare with seasonal local ingredients. Entrees include traditional favorites, such as hamburger and fries or grilled fish of the day, and dishes more nouveau, like sake miso marinated Pacific black cod and chickpea-scallion crêpe with Wagyū skirt steak, nopales and avocado. Also on the menu are pizzettes, salads with local organic produce, and a variety of appetizers and desserts sure to provide flavorful bookends to a delightful meal. Couple the food with some of California's finest wines and local microbrews from the drink menu, and you've got yourself a true California dining experience. The bar at the Gordon Ramsay is open during Boxwood Café hours and features signature cocktails such as "Gordon's Fury" and "Ramsay's Wrath."
Morning feasters will find an array of fresh treats and beverages at the Boxwood Breakfast Table buffet or can opt for a breakfast entree. The huevos rancheros and the artichoke tart come highly recommended. Weekend brunch is served from 11:30am to 3pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Traditional afternoon tea, befitting of the restaurant's location in the London, is offered daily from 3 to 5 pm. With such delectable offerings, Boxwood Café is more than just a window into fine dining but a gratifying dining experience of its own.
GetWize: Gordon Ramsay is a Scottish-born British celebrity chef who, in terms of Michelin Stars, ranks 3rd in the world. While he is more famous for his temper and use of expletives, he was once a pretty decent soccer player.
