Broken Social Scene
Broken Social Scene Live at The Esplande - 27th July

“We’ll be back. And the next time, we’ll bring more.” That’s what Kevin Drew promised the last time Broken Social Scene were in town more than two years ago for 2008’s Mosaic Music Festival. The only BSS members who made the trip were the aforementioned Kevin Drew, Brendan Canning, Justin Peroff, Charles Spearin and Andrew Whiteman which makes that less than a third of the full line-up. Well the line-up does consist of 19 members, so a BSS gig always features a somewhat incomplete roster. Nevertheless, the absence of the BSS girls, Leslie Feist, Emily Haines and Amy Milian were almost crimes. But you see the thing was, even with a depleted line-up, that concert blew my mind and pitter patter went my heart.

I would even go so far as to say it was one of the best concert experiences of my life. This is a pretty big admission, especially in print, but “Lover’s Spit” nearly made me cry. It was one of those amazing performances that just lingered in my mind, making me scour YouTube to relive the memories every now and then, even two years and dozens of other gigs later. If you were there like me and ever wished to experience that magic again or if you were sadly absent for that remarkable 2008 show, well your prayers have been answered. Mosaic will be bringing back Canadian indie ‘supergroup’ Broken Social Scene for one night only on July 27th at the Esplanade! Hopefully with a more complete line-up this time. Come on Kevin Drew, I’m holding you to that promise.

GetWize: Tickets are going for S$40, S$60, S$80 and S$100 (with limited concessions for NSF and senior citizens at S$25, S$40) and will be on sale on 20 May 2010 from Sistic.
