This week, Club Melodic hosts its first weekly party on Wednesday, February 25th at Ecco. None other than the superfunkidiculous Andy Caldwell will kick affairs into dancefloor high gears. Regardless of the latest hipster this and that, we continue bowing down to the 1990's DJs, who set the current scene's young head honchos in motion when they still had plastic pacifiers (pre-teen ravers).

Caldwell's contributions to Om Records, his remixes, and Grammy nominations catapulted the San Francisco native to global DJ stature. No end appears in sight as he continues spreading dance music's borders with his recently relaunched label, Uni Recordings, clocking in 100 shows a year, and making clean, house jams that work just as well in a lounge as they do past two a.m. at a hot club.

The party this week is free! If you haven't already been, Ecco is a revolutionary high end venue. Many efforts were taken to make the space as eco-friendly as possible. They use LED lighting. There are actually waste materials in the cement, but don't worry, that doesn't mean it smells like garbage. Quite the opposite! They have paperless drywall, cotton insulation, copper plumbing pipes, and an energy efficient sound system. So be sure to run your fingers across the stone bar and check out the sound board--it's made of cardboard.
