Mighty has established itself as one the top clubs in San Francisco during its relatively short existence. The club definitely lives up to its name as it is housed in a converted 6,000 square foot, late 19th century warehouse with 22ft high ceilings and massive wood pillars. Polished hardwood floors, exposed brick walls, and quarterly art rotations give the space an undeniable charm, making it a great place to dance the night away. The vintage architecture is augmented by modern touches like weathered steel bars and a state of the art lighting and projection system. Richard Long (R.I.P.), who put together sound systems for legendary clubs like Paradise Garage and Club Zanzibar, designed Mighty’s impressive system, which is regarded by many as one of the best in the city.
The speakers are put to the test every week by some of the finest DJ’s and bands around. From local favorites like Miguel Migs to cutting edge electronic acts like Flying Lotus and the Glitch Mob, the music policy has something for everybody and rarely disappoints. Mighty is more than just a dance club though. The venue has hosted fashion shows, discussion panels, and the occasional roller skating night (tons of fun). There is also a backroom gallery, which contains work from talented local artists.
The convergence of art, music, and culture has proven to be a winning combination for Mighty. URB magazine named it the “Best New Club” back in 2005 and the venue continues to improve and draw bigger acts every year. With dance music in SF experiencing a surge in popularity, Mighty’s future looks bright.
Mighty is located at 119 Utah St.
