Cut Copy Crashes into The Mezzanine

The infectious pop powerhouse, Cut Copy, has crossed many seas to bring our bay area community some of the most heart filling and dramatic dance in the world.

Cut Copy's style is nothing you haven't seen before. They has been compared to such dance hall demons as Depeche Mode and New Order, who's timeless sound is reinterpreted by the Melbourne trio and pumped into a seamless synthesized shimmer of keyboard, guitar, drums, and vocals. Frontman, Dan Whitford, left his job as a graphic designer and part time DJ to begin the band, and after a bit of reworking, united with fellow Aussies Tim Hoey and Mitchell Scott. During a clean three years of touring, the band has quickly showed the scene new standards of pop-musical mastery while wowing crowds with no frilled, solid sets, dedicated to dance and their music. Cut Copy's live sound is said to be identical to their recorded. The group's March 2007 release, In Ghost Colours, is rumored to cause one to dance by themselves, remember ex-lovers, clap as fast as they can and to smile. The Mezzanine is sure to be filled with an exciting mix of these Cut Copy faithful (known as The Cutters) and those who are just looking to dance the night away.

Confusedly, people's interest in pop music deems them dense in the music world, so many critiques have labeled the band as "alternative dance" in hopes to counteract those prejudices. All of that fluff aside, let's be real, these Australians attack the music with a high-grade, new wave, synth pop, that is to die for. From their sinful beats, hail Cut Copy's lullaby lyrics that reflect those of the Beach Boys' Pet Sounds. Contagious and charming, their songs elicit a summery sound that transports one out of the push and grind of the workday and into the "Lights and Music".

Online sales are sold-out, so it's time to crack into the Craigslist market for last minute finds. This anticipated show is on the lips of many here in the city and will surely be remembered long after it's over. The dance-punk priests of The Presets will warm up the crowd with an intense groove workout. Surely, Saturday is a night no one should miss experiencing.
