March 3, 2012 doesn’t hold nearly as much significance as say, April 20th 2012; however, connoisseurs of the herb known today as “medical marijuana” will want to make a mental note of this calendar date. March 3rd is the official day of the Cypress Hill Smokeout Festival, bringing a host of stoner-worthy musicians and other activities that will surely provide a day’s worth of entertainment -- albeit slow moving entertainment.
The set list reads like a true eclectic’s iTunes library – Thievery Corporation, Rusko, MSTRKRFT, Wolfgang Gartner, Low End Theory residents (Daddy Kev, Nobody, Gaslamp Killer, D-Styles), DJ Muggs, Curren$y, and Daedelus – and those heavy hitters aren’t even the headliners. This is your chance to see Sublime With Rome, Korn, Cypress Hill, Wiz Khalifa, Café Tacuba and The Dirty Heads all on one stage, which interesting enough is dubbed the Massive Stoned Garden Stage. If you are one of the many Californians carrying a state-sanctioned medical marijuana card, you’ll have an opportunity to smoke your stash unfettered in the Patient Consumption Area and then check out some great music.
Fear not, medical marijuana activists and those who are pro-legalizing! The festival is hosting panel discussions at The Marijuana Expo, all of which are aimed at educating the public about marijuana and its medicinal triumphs, how to advocate for cannabis in the upcoming election cycle, the devastating effects of cannabis prohibition, and how cannabis inspires artists and musicians alike, everyday.
Tickets for the Smokeout Festival are on sale now. You can pick them up here at Ticketfly. General admission tickets are $86, include parking, and a donation to charity. VIP and High Roller VIP tickets are available with extra perks like freebies and a meet-n-greet with artists. For more information visit the festival’s website.
