Dear 6-foot viking-queen, bronze-skinned-bohemian, feline-eyed tiger goddess, hapa-pua,
Everybody in this cafe seems to have something really important to attend to: taxes, novel writing, a meeting with a "client", etc. I too, have something, which needs to be handled, preferably hastily. I swear I do. As for you, although you're at your small table alone, without any delicately filed papers and you aren't filling the air with rapid typewriter clicks, your knee-high purple boots (AKA [r-e-s-p-e-c-t]-me-boots) indicate that you're fully cognitive and unafraid of your femininity yet, these vertical trunks of leather reveal not a speck of your flesh, indicating that there are parts of your XY chromosomes, which you want to keep private. I respect that. All of it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to come off as Pepé Le Pew but I do feel that petite femme skunk needs to be pursued and earned. I'm sure you have something--perhaps many things--which are pressing to do in this cafe, in this lifetime, so I'll try and be brief.
I'm bloating this monologue and I do apologize. Chalk it up to the flutters of my corazon. So I suppose I had better plunge; dinner under the dim lights at Nyala-Ethipoian Cuisine in Fairfax's Little Ethiopia district. It'll be a majestic stray from the hectic hustle this supposed angelic-city sometimes bestows upon us. Plus you eat with your hands; it's a fantastic way to get close to somebody, having to eat sauteed lamb off of the same plate. I suppose I should mention, being that you so stoically wear those boots so high, I see a woman who thinks for herself, in regards to things such as animal cruelty. If that's the case Nyala also sports a stellar vegetarian menu.
After dinner, we'll appreciate the intersection of high and low: Scoops takes a courageous and avant garde approach to ice cream. Artsy flavors such as bread, corona & lime or strawberry & red vinaigrette should appease our carnal lust for confections. They too cater with vegan selections as well.
Compared to other cities I've been in, Los Angeles is certainly lacking in back-alleys, small streets and shortcuts. Therefore, I find that Los Angeles' road less-taken is even more exotic and valuable. Haven't you noticed my unorthodox selections, thus far? I hope that you have. I'm not like every other fellow, mi amor.
On that note I feel like we can once again spread our wings and dodge cliches' with an ambient-( I was trying to avoid cliches' and I used the word "ambient." I wish I was not writing you in pen) drink at Bar Lubitsch, in West Hollywood. They have over 200 vodkas and their mix drinks are otherworldly. They apparently even serve absinthe, in case I begin to expend you with conversation. They also have a dance-floor, but you know, we can treat it like the beach: we don't have to get wet if we don't want to, the shore is fittingly elegant.
And that's that. I'm hoping my words oscillate with you to some extent. I'm the 5'11, San Francisco Giants cap-wearing kid to your right.
