You're Invited to Dine About Town in '09

Tired of holiday leftovers? Still haven't taken that new kitchen appliance out of its box? Want to indulge yourself with a meal at one of San Francisco's many fine restaurants without breaking the bank? It's time for Dine About Town, a bi-annual event showcasing some of the cities most popular fine dining establishments. From Jan. 15 - 31, over 100 restaurants across the city will be featured, with cuisine styles raging from steakhouse to Asian-fusion. Included are San Francisco institutions such as Scoma's seafood on Fisherman's Warf and newer hot spots like the ultra-hip Supperclub in SoMa. Vegetarian and vegan options not withstanding, there is surely something to satisfy any appetite.

Each participating restaurant is offering a specially prepared three-course meal for a fixed price; $34.95 for dinners and $21.95 for lunches (not including tax and gratuity). With a single entree costing over $30 at any fine restaurant, Dine About Town is a spectacular deal.

A full list of featured eateries can be found on the TasteSF website. Listings are easily narrowed by type of cuisine and neighborhood, and you can also view a sample menu and book your reservation online.

Organized in 2002 by the San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau to promote the fine dining industry in San Francisco, Dine About Town encourages residents and visitors to eat out in the city at fine establishments, and to explore new restaurants they may not otherwise try.

With so many great restaurants to choose from, you may have a hard time deciding. For a preview of what some of the featured restaurants will be serving, attend the Dine About Town launch party on Jan. 14 at 6 p.m. in The Cellar at Macy's Union Square. Tickets are $20, with all proceeds going to Meals on Wheels. The ticket includes 10 tasting tickets. 11 restaurants will prepare food, including Campton Place Restaurant, First Crush Restaurant, Wine Bar & Lounge and Market Street Grill. The evening will also feature wine tasting and cooking demonstrations.

Space for the lunch event is limited, and reservations should be made by Jan. 11 on the website.

If you've been putting off that special meal out with friends, family or loved ones, Dine About Town this January is a great opportunity. Revisit an old favorite, try someplace new and save a little cash at Dine About Town 2009. Bon Appétit.
