The only place as warm and friendly as grandma’s house on a Sunday night is Eva, which, not coincidentally, was named after Chef Mark Gold’s own grandmother. Gould, formerly of Cafe Pinot and Water Grill, has established a haven for those in search of both fine dining and a home away from home. Based on the concepts of "warmth, comfort and indulgence", the chef regularly comes out of the kitchen to mingle and check on the diners.
The only problem with the restaurant is deciding what to order: foie gras with pink guava, thyme and brioche, the peekytoe crab with yuzu gelee and kyoho grape, and the young chicken with persimmon, hubbard squash, potato and olive are current faves. With a menu that changes seasonally, menu items that fall under $25 and a solid Wine List, Eva is quickly becoming an affordable, delicious neighborhood spot. Eva recently opened for lunch Tuesday through Friday, and is closed Mondays. It is located at 7458 Beverly Boulevard.
GetWize: Sunday night Eva offers a deal that can't be passed up: a family-style chef's choice menu comprised of a 5 course meal. You can order as much as you want of each featured dish, and drink as much wine as you little heart desires, all for only $35. Sigh. Why can't it be Sunday every day?
