Las Vegas has always been known for going over the top so this should come as no surprise, but the new hotel, scheduled to open in Fall 2009, will once again redefine the strip and lift the bar to yet another level. Much like its’ sister property in Miami, the Fontainebleau Las Vegas is all about style, sleek design and being down right cool.

3800 rooms, a 100,000 sq. ft. of casino, a 60,000 sq. ft. spa, 3,200 seat performing arts theater, 1,000 condo-hotel units, 300,000 sq. ft. of shopping space, 400,000 sq. ft of convention space, 9 bars/lounges/nightclubs and 27 restaurants start things off at this little motel in the desert.

The seven-acre pool deck, 72 feet above the Strip, is designed for day and nighttime entertainment alike. An 18-hour-a-day experience and the ultimate in adult playgrounds, Cloud 9 (as it will be called), includes 5 pools, 3 spas, 3 restaurants, a nightclub and ultra lounge, cabanas, and an open-air casino.

The economy is crap, tourism is way down and people are broke but it’s good to see that in a time of such change Las Vegas is staying constant by, well…changing. The strip continues to grow and the jaws continue to drop as new players like Fontainebleau and The Cosmopolitan (if it can open) elbow their way in to the game and the old dogs like MGM-Mirage, Wynn and Harrah’s continue to up the ante with properties like City Center, Encore and the seemingly ever expanding Caesar’s. If nothing else, it’s fun to watch! Stay tuned for more details as they unfold.
