So you just got your music festival fix with CMJ, but that fete still left you craving a little something salty and comical: enter Comedy Central’s New York Comedy Festival. Like CMJ, the festival is a celebration of the genre, bringing your favorite comedians together in one place for a few days, but unlike CMJ, New York Comedy Festival focuses more on the big name comedians you know and love to laugh at, rather than a plethora of up-and-comers that you can see every week at your local watering hole – think quality over quantity. Case in point: some of the highly anticipated names include Dane Cook, Mike Epps, Andy Samberg, Mario Cantone (Marcus, of Sex and the City fame), and SNL Alum and 30 Rock star Tracy Morgan, to name a few. The seemingly largest event this year, however, is the Stand-Up for Heroes show, an event about recognizing and appreciating our service members, complete with a performance by Bruce Springsteen.
