Shortly after this year’s Oyster Fest at Fort Mason, we became obsessed with the Oyster Happy Hour in San Francisco. Maybe the perceived dignity we get from eating oysters on a sunny afternoon offsets the reality that we're lit on a Tuesday, again. Regardless of the reasons, we got on the horn around town to track down some of the best happy hour deals and to spread the word.
Bacar is one of those places that you see when you're walking home from Caltrain after that long commute and think thank effing God I'm back in San Francisco. The wine bar is situated in a renovated brick warehouse replete with comfortable couches and chairs and a three-story wine wall. The wine list is extreme and the food is magnifique but perhaps the best reason to come to Bacar is for the Happy Hour on Fridays when Bacar offers $1 Oysters.
The Happy Hour:
When: Monday to Friday, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Drinks & Food: 50% off appetizers on the bar menu, including sliders and fish tacos. $2 PBR drafts, $5 classic cocktails, as well as red and white wine by the glass for $5.
Oysters: On Fridays, in addition to the above, they offer $1 oysters.

When you walk into Yabbie's Coastal Kitchen you're immediately greeted with the feeling that you might have just traveled to the Caribbean for happy hour on the water, except you're not REALLY on the water. Located in the heart of Russian Hill, Yabbie's offers up a seafood menu that rivals some of the classic seafood spots in town. With coastal recipes from all over the world including Peruvian ceviche, Spanish freshwater trout and New England clambakes. Although the happy hour is short, you can do a lot of damage in an hour with the low wine and oyster prices.
The Happy Hour:
When: Sundays 5:30-6:30pm, Mon-Thurs 6-7pm
Drinks & Food: $4 Glass of Happy Hour Wine
Oysters: $1 Oyster of the Day

2237 Polk Street
San Francisco, CA 94109
If you're feeling more like a on-the-water oyster experience, grab your co-workers and run, don't walk to Hog Island Oyster Co. located on the back of the Ferry Building because this place gets packed for happy hour. Cop a seat outside so you can have a view of the bay bridge and all of the ferries rolling in and out. There's no better way to end a sunny day in San Francisco than to take it all in with a view of the ocean with a glass of wine in your hand.
The Happy Hour:
When: Monday AND Thursday 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Drinks & Food: $3.50 pints of beer and one white wine at $5. Special appetizers for $6 to $8.
Oysters: One oyster for $1 (usually sweetwater or another pacific).

Looking for a place to impress your parents who come into town maybe once a year to escape the throngs of winter in the midwest? Waterbar is the spot. It's got the quintessential views of the bay and the giant circular aquariums inside make a trip to the Aquarium by the Bay unnecessary - score for you since you would hate to go down to Pier 39 for the nth time and score for them because they won't have to pay for you, again. Ah, and isn't having your parents in town the perfect reason to skip out of work at three o' clock on a Tuesday to catch Waterbar's THREE hour long happy hour?
The Happy Hour:
When: Monday through Friday 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Drinks & Food: $5 Spa in Cabo (José Cuervo Reserva De La Familia Platino Tequila, cucumber)
Oysters: One Oyster for $1.

So you want to get a little fancy-schmancy for happy hour? Get yourself over to Union Square and grab a table at Farallon. The restaurant design itself is enough to make you want to stick around for dinner. There's custom made 'jellyfish' chandeliers, a nautilus room featuring shellfish pillars and a custom build oyster bar that displays all of the day's fresh catch ready for the shuckin'. The Oyster bar is also known for being the only place in San Francisco that offers a variety of rare oysters from the Chesapeake Bay.
The Happy Hour:
When: 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. every night
Drinks & Food: Happy hour called "6 until 7" with 6 bites and 6 beverages priced at $6.00 until 7PM.
Oysters: Oysters are on the bites menu.
