Guide to Valentine's Day in SF

Valentine’s Day is this Saturday and it’s time to make a decision. You can either sit at home and chase candy hearts with vodka, or you can go out with your friends and party. We suggest the latter. For the single, this means one thing: lonely hearts and body parts get ready to connect. For the couples, if you don’t want to exchange chocolate hearts and build-a-bears, I’ve got a few ideas for you too. Here’s the guide to Valentine’s Day in San Francisco.

Temple – Baby Be Mine, Thurs 2/12
V-Day can be a tough time for weak hearts. If you need to start the ‘party’ early, check out Temple on Thurs and plan accordingly for the rest of the weekend. $10 gets you in the door at 7pm to see a sexy fashion show and listen to the DJ spin into the a.m. Get more info here

Make Out Room - Mortified, Thurs 2/12, Fri 2/13
Here’s another pre-V-Day party. Mortified is going down Thursday and Friday in the mission. It’s a traveling comedy group that performs high school love letters and shares tacky 1st-time romance stories for the audience’s sheer enjoyment. If you’re daring enough, you might even get to tell your own. Get more info here.

DNA Lounge – Bootie Valentine’s Day Mashup, Sat 2/14
The DNA is doing a special V-Day Bootie party just for you. Get down with DJ Freddy, Smash-Up Derby and Valentine as Cupid for a special midnight mashup show. The upstairs will be transformed into the Lovers Lounge where you can dance and make out to all sorts of love songs and slow jams. Tickets are $6-12.

Bimbo’s 365 Club – Tainted Love, Sat 2/14
If you’re above the city’s equator for Valentine’s, there’s really only one place to go. Tainted Love at Bimbo’s. Tainted Love is one of the best ‘80s cover bands you’ll ever see, and there’s no better time to experience all that pent-up co-ed frustration than Valentine’s Day. B.Y.O.H.B. (Bring Your Own Head-Band). Get more info here.

Mighty – Black Valentine Masquerade Feat. Evil 9 and James Lavelle, Sat 2/14
For the darker side of Valentine’s day, check out the Black Valentine Masquerade at Mighty. Evil 9 will bring treacherous electro drums and ‘80s Italian horror-movie synths, while co-headliner James Lavelle keeps the deep bass humming to your core. Here’s one for the ex’s.
