Hot Chip Invades NYC, Adds April 23rd Show at Terminal 5

As British group Hot Chip’s popularity has increased, so has its overseas appeal, evident by selling out its April 22 show at Terminal 5 in NYC with Gang Gang Dance. But don’t fret- the band has added an additional performance the following night, April 23rd, to accommodate its loyal Northeast fan base.

Hot Chip, the British electropop band nominated for a Grammy, is scheduled to release it fourth studio album, One Life Stand, on February 1st. The core of the band is made up of Alexis Taylor and Joe Goddard, school chums who found solace in music and began making home recordings employing an unusual assortment of inexpensive synthesizers, guitars and percussion. Owen Clarke, another school bud, joined the duo soon thereafter, and helped produce Hot Chip’s first full-fledge album, Coming on Strong.

The Warning, their follow-up CD that was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize- an annual award given for the best album from the United Kingdom or Ireland- represented a great step forward in terms of songwriting and musical production, though the album was still recorded entirely at home and without the assistance of a professional studio. Al Doyle and Felix Martin joined the band full time and now round-out the five-member group.

GetWize: Hot Chip will be playing at Terminal 5 in New York City April 22nd (sold out show) and April 23rd (not yet sold out, go go go!). Tickets are currently running for $35 and can be purchased here. Doors will open at 8pm and the show starts at 9:00pm.
