To say last December’s Discopark Sessions at House left an indelible impression upon the collective consciousness of the local nu-disco scene would be an understatement. The debut of House’s Discopark Sessions was a wildly successful, trail-blazing journey into the proverbial musical rabbit hole, and coming February 19th, Discopark Sessions will be making its return in spectacular fashion for a night of nu-disco wonder. With a focus on cultivating youthful talents and being ahead of the euphonic curve in terms of proliferating emerging musical trends, Discopark provides a venue of up-and-comers to strut their stuff to an appreciative forward-thinking crowd. This February, the two au courant artists on display at House are ones whose stars are on the verge of turning supernova; the mercurial Edwin Van Cleef and ever eclectic GLOVES.

Edwin Van Cleef is a 24-year-old Leeds-bred DJ and is one of the most in vogue figures within the nu-disco spectrum at the moment. His inescapably catchy tracks conjure up sounds ranging from distorted french filter house to pure nu-disco grooves. Van Cleef’s “Overtaken” emerged as one of 2009’s biggest and catchiest hits, paving the way for his remarkably rapid ascendancy. Meanwhile GLOVES’ deafening hype in the blogosphere, largely due to his tracks being featured on the Hed Kandi Nu Disco compilation, has been hard to miss. Already holding acclaimed residencies at 3rd Class (Melbourne) and One Love - Down Low Disco (Sydney), GLOVES is one to look out for. The location may have changed to the Beauty Emporium (on the 2nd floor at House) but the commitment to bringing you only the best music remains paramount. Discopark Sessions is completely FREE, meaning no minimum spend, no cover charge and no excuses for not attending. Besides, with two brilliant acts like these, there isn’t a reason in the world not to.
