The streets of San Francisco are packed with some of the finest restaurants serving some of the most eclectic cuisines that exist. There is Eritrean food, all of the fine Italian restaurants in North Beach, not to mention all the asian-flare restaurants that dot our sidewalks. But what good is a creamy lobster bisque if you simply can't afford it? Metrowize shows you where you can get the most bang for your buck and have fun doing it:
Vietnam (620 Broadway) - This Vietnamese style restaurant has succulent steamy dishes and is open from 9am-3am daily. What sets this hole-in-the-wall eatery apart is their $4.00 Vietnamese style pork sandwiches. Right in the heart of North Beach, you can drink yourself silly and at 2am. When the bars close you know you have one more stop to make before home.
Sam's (618 Broadway) - If Asian food isn't your fancy, right next door is Sam's, a good old fashioned hole in the wall diner. A Cheeseburger will run you $4.25 and it is arguably one of the best cheeseburgers if not THE best, juiciest, moistest burger you can find in this town whether you want to pay $4 or $15. Also they serve domestic bottled beers for $3.00 and imported bottles for $3.50. Open from 5pm-2am Daily.
El Farolito (2777 and 4817 Mission St.) - No cheap eating guide would be complete without including El Farolito, which has been giving Mission area residents (and visitors) tasty Mexican food for years and years. Burritos start around $4 and on weekends they are open until 3:45am. On weekdays they close at 1:45am.
Seniore's Pizza (2415 19th Ave.) - Another staple of the late night food scene is Seniore's Pizza, a pizza place no larger than the size of a jail cell. However with slices starting at $3 and their closing time of 4am the place is always packed, especially late at night. They will also deliver in the Sunset district until almost 4am.
John's Ocean Beach Cafe (2898 Sloat Blvd.) - This is a bit of a departure from the rest of the eateries on this list. It is the only one where you can sit down and be waited on. It is also the only one that isn't open past 3pm. This little cafe close to Ocean Beach is a breakfast/lunch spot with amazing scrambles...and mimosas! Go there on a Sunday morning to cure your Saturday night blues.
