Entering Kozy Kar is sort of like time-traveling back to the 70’s. But in this time travel scenario, you land in the backseat of a hollowed out Chevy with padded walls and shag rugs galore. As you reach for your can of either PBR, Schlitz, Olympia or Hamm (the only beers served), you wonder if you also happened to have taken LSD tonight: your seat seems to be moving. However, on a closer inspection, you realize your seat is actually moving, and that’s because the backseat of this van is a waterbed. Groovy!

Kozy Kar makes no attempt to mask what it is: a cheesy, kitschy, dirty and awesomely sleazy dive bar. However, we can think of no better place to down a few cheap beers with friends, get sloshed and laugh at the remnants of the 70’s. The floor and bar are covered in vintage centerfolds, the servers glide around in shiny satin one-pieces and rollerskates, and there’s a gold stripper pole in the middle of the bar. The ceiling is covered with old steering wheels and hubcaps, disco balls twirl above, and smoke fills the dance floor- via exhaust pipes! If you want to chat with that sexy coed sitting in the both in front of you, just pick up your CB radio. Roger that.

GetWize: This is not the place you want to order a glass of wine- it will come out of a dusty box that sits behind the bar. There are no fancy cocktails, no bottle service and no booth reservations. However, in an uncharacteristic turn of events they do take credit cards (on their website they say they “reluctantly” accept American Express-ha ha!).
