2009 Langerado Cancelled

Whoever said the economy is looking up in 2009 isn’t a music fan. With government bailouts across the board for federal and non-federal institutions, one must wonder, when will we get to see Snoop Dogg? The 2009 Langerado Music Festival in Miami was cancelled today due to “sluggish ticket sales” according to co-promoter, Ethan Shwartz.

The event, set to take place in Bicentenial Park, Miami, March 6-8 has been shut down. Along with Snoop, topping the bill were artists, Death Cab For Cutie, Modest Mouse, Thievery Corporation, Slighty Stoopid and many more. It was a genre-bending, talented lineup for a festival that prides itself on fan enjoyment and musical innovation.

Although it was a tough decision for Shwartz, he explains, “During these difficult economic times, and facing a first year in a new venue, it’s become apparent that we cannot execute a production that lives up to the high standards of our past events.”

With an increase in music and art festivals across America amidst an economic recession, fans must begin to beg the question: What festivals will last? Unfortunately for Langerado fans and the city of Miami, the festival is a no-go this year. However, Miami will still see its fair share of music and entertainment including Ultra Music Fest at Winter Music Conference.

The Langerado Festival committee has agreed to refund all tickets sales in the next 5-7 business days and is apologetic about the festival cancellation. More info about ticketing and the festival cancellation can be found on Langerado’s website.

Apparently, Murder Was the Case they gave Langerado, too.
