Los Angeles keeps getting bigger and bigger. An endless sprawl breaking off into new neighborhoods which eventually become their own zip codes. With that there's a constant flux of new restaurants appearing, some of which are plain amazing and/or strange. Here are some restaurants that opened in March 2009 and spark our interest:
BoHo

Andre Guerrero's latest. Lots of pizza, bacon, family style plates, farmer's market vegetables, and artisan beers. Tall plants reach for the ceiling in the front room, and the gastropub decor is full of things to stare at while your date talks and talks and talks.

Rockenwagner

An authentic German sausage counter with five homemade sausage varieties and an intriguing selection of gooey bakery and savory deli items. Plus, the name is fun to say. You can also see Rockenwagner at almost every farmer's market in town.

Westside Tavern

Nestled inside Westside Pavillion, this place has definitely got the look as they say. The place can hold 300 guests in its 10,400 square feet of space, and the designers did not skimp out on the wood stumps lining the wall. You want a chic pub? You got it.

Go to Brentwood for free hot dogs during happy hour! Here is the creation of Irish actor turned restaurateur Jason Killalee. Many dishes under $10 served in a clean, modern-minimalist space. Even the menu is organized so your pint-soggy brain has an easy time figuring out what it wants: salty, hot, cold or sweet.

Some good things come in small packages. This Silverlake restaurant may be tiny but the flavorful, fancy dishes pack in big taste, and a big line can form at this no-reservations spot. The walnut caramel sauce kicks dessert ass.

Get a little weird without having to eat snake penis. We're not even sure if snakes have penises. But how about some Malaysian black pepper clams, Egyptian style baked fish and Cuban stuffed potato cake? Street brings street-style food to gourmet level. How about a Cantonese white radish cake?
