Walk into Mama’s and discover a homebody’s delight: fresh flowers, picnic blanket tabletops, and windows that are plucked straight out of the Beaver’s kitchen. Hidden in the heart of North Beach, this 50-plus year breakfast and lunch tradition is known for its unbelievably palette-pleasing dishes and long wait times for seating.
Sunlit breakfast nooks perfectly compliment a broad array of brunch items baking and searing in the kitchen. Mouthwatering local favorites include: Salmon Eggs Benedict, Chocolate Cinnamon French Toast, and Dungeness Crab Benedict. Everything from the pancake batter to breads and desserts are made on site. Signature menu features include items like French toast that can be made from any type of bread offered (from banana nut to blueberry bread).
GetWize: Mama’s does not take reservations. Avoid the seemingly endless wait (up to three hours on Sundays) by eating here on weekdays, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. If you’re feeling patient, weekend visits are rewarded with delectable specials such as Homemade Cranberry Orange Walnut French Toast and Bloody Marys. Mama's is located at 1701 Stockton Street on the corner of Washington Square Park in North Beach.
