With some of the world's best Mexican restaurants in its backyard, defining what constitutes "good" Mexican food in San Diego can get muy caliente and a little spicy. But whether you're a SD native or just a local for the weekend, most can agree that Miguel's Cocina, a member of the Brigantine Family of Restaurants, is doing something right. With five locations spanning from Chula Vista to Coronado and everywhere in between, a long-anticipated sixth location in Carlsbad made its North County debut off Avenida Encinas this June.

One of the few Mexican food restaurant options in North County, the new Miguel's lies in a league of its own. Uniquely decorated with fresh modern decor, while the spacious upscale ambiance may seem wildly different to those familiar with the restaurant's other locations, the Carlsbad spot nonetheless upholds the delicious cuisine and lively scene Miguel's is known for.

Much like Miguel’s top-notch cuisine that encompasses an expertly craft collection of nearly every Mexican dish under the sun, options for dining abound at the new spot, including a special addition of "platos del norte" (North County favorites) dishes like seasoned New York strip steak and citrus marinated swordfish. Hit the lounge and huge rectangular bar for happy hour, cozy up in padded booths around the perimeter of the palatial venue, or if none of those options sound quite your thing, head to the more private back rooms for and enjoy a romantic chandelier lit dinner by the fireplace.

No matter where you choose, guaranteed your dining experience will begin with delicious complimentary hand-made chips, salsa and the famed white cheddar jalapeno queso. All hours are happy here, but take advantage of the weekly Massive Monday special that offers all-night happy hour from 3pm to close to try out concoctions like the house specialty Miguel's Ultimate Margarita made with the house specialty, with centenario “azul” reposado, patrón citrónge, orange liqueur, grand marnier, and fresh citrus juices. For an extra kick go for the habanero-lime margarita craft with corralejo reposado with triple sec, fresh lime juice, sweet & sour mix and served in a tall glass complete with lime and lightly dusted chili-powdered rim.
Paired with the sizzling fajitas, served with sauteed mushrooms, crisp onion, savory bell pepper and tomato, rice and beans, zesty guacamole, salsa fresca and wrapped in warm house made flour tortillas, the tantalizing sensation of flavors delivers lives up to why Miguel's continues to be a spot on which everybody can agree!
